KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Individual Giving Specialist is responsible for fundraising and growing our Individual Giving revenue stream. This includes identifying new, prospective individual donors, stewarding and retaining existing donors, and soliciting individual donors and other funders to secure annual commitments, carrying out the overall strategic plan, as well as garnering support for our non-profit. This position works closely with the Program Team, Finance Team, and Board of Trustees to ensure fundraising success.
Raise a predetermined amount of income each year, focusing on gifts from individual donors.
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donations through in-person visits, presentations, phone calls, proposals and other forms of communication.
Develop innovative approaches and strong relationships to generate new and higher levels of giving from new and existing individual donors.
Manage and build a book of clientele (“Book of Business”) to grow BGCGC’s donor pool through organizational relationships, WealthEngine, and other resources an necessary.
Enlist senior management, volunteers and board members in the cultivation and solicitation of major donors and prospects.
Promote and help spearhead major giving strategies, such as capital campaigns, endowment, planned gifts, and title sponsorships.
Write and present reports for internal and external purposes, including reports on philanthropic giving (i.e. total income, sources of income, type of gifts, commitments, etc.) and progress toward goals, as well as benchmarks reports as directed.
Leverage our CRM donor database, SalesForce, to keep client information up to date, to monitor fundraising progress, and to prepare various reports as necessary.
Support Vice President of Revenue Development in the execution of annual solicitation campaigns and overarching fundraising strategies.
Participate in the Revenue Development Committee, spearheading the New & Lapsed Donor/Individual Giving subcommittee(s).
Support the Development team with managing donor stewardship, including acknowledgement letters, sponsorship and advertisement opportunities, and creative recognition to acquire and grow giving.
Cooperate with the Development Team to ensure no cross-solicitation and redundancy of fundraising with new and existing donors.
Coordinate with the Finance Team to ensure proper credit of gifts and pledges received.
Archive all donor data in our SalesForce system, coordinating with our Associate Director of Development to ensure the proper tracking and archiving of major data trends.
Support Vice President of Development and development team with meeting preparation, donor relations, annual campaigns and additional writing projects.
Assist with planning and execution of special events, coordinating with the Events Committees and our Special Events Coordinator, particularly in regard to soliciting sponsorships, selling tickets and creating guest lists.
Assist with the development of collateral materials to support organization-wide special events, club fundraisers and special solicitations.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required by the Vice President of Development and BGCGC organization.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with experience in fundraising, philanthropy, event management, donor/client relationships and/or direct sales required. CFRE Certification is preferred.
Strong organizational/time management skills with the ability to work unsupervised and to be a self-motivated problem-solver.
Demonstrated computer skills in CRM systems and with major MS office products such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
